We commonly hear that, whilst pregnant, expected mothers crave a slice of scheduled time to relax and to do something for themselves; something that feels good, and something that is positive, as well as, nourishing for their mind and body.
That is why at Mirosuna, we believe you deserve that time and so make sure to provide a pregnancy friendly environment. We prioritise and ensure that you can experience a safe and controlled, calm and comfort whist taking part our classes. We want to be able to support prenatal anxiety, alleviate stress, and help you to feel in touch with your breath more than ever before, allowing you to enjoy the beauty and wonder of being pregnant and preparing for the birth of your baby. Our teachers have a passion for teaching, and all have knowledge encompassing what poses are suitable during each trimester of pregnancy.
We have extra wide beds for meditation coupled with multiple pillow options including a pregnancy pillow if you need.
Our studio features natural cork flooring throughout, which helps you to feel grounded, as well as keep your feet warm and slightly cushioned when walking around the studio.
We have a relaxed dress code; you can wear whatever you want to, to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible. A lot of students even bring their own blankets and thick socks, making the class experience even more comfortable and warming.
In all of our rooms, the music will follow you everywhere you go, allowing a consistent anchor for your mindset if you need to go to the bathroom during the class. The lighting is adjustable so we can cater to those who may be experiencing headaches/fatigue or light sensitivity by turning down the lighting to create an ambient atmosphere, especially during out Candlelit YIN Yoga classes. What better way to relax and destress than by candlelight!
We also offer a hot tea, sparkling and still water in studio. Our tea changes daily, ranging from chrysanthemum, and our Crystal, Heal and Purify teas. Each of these teas are caffeine free, ensuring that you can concentrate and relax effectively, plus also drift of after class for a good night’s sleep.
Mirosuna stocks our own organic, natural essential oil roll-ons to use during your time here to alleviate common prenatal and postnatal ailments such as aches, tension, nausea, and anxiety. We apply these oils in a pregnancy friendly way so that you will not have adverse reactions. These scents range from using Eucalyptus, Lemon Myrtle, Sandalwood, Mandarin, Lemon, Bergamot, Ginger, Cinnamon, Patchouli and Rose, so you will be sure to find one that suits your preference every time you visit.
Our Meditation and YIN Yoga classes are perfect for supporting throughout all stages of pregnancy. These styles of classes promote and help improve sleep quality, stress reduction, decreased lower backpain / muscle tension, and alleviate nausea and headaches – all symptoms that can occur during pregnancy.
We are all about comfort and inviting relaxation into our lives. Our classes feature our custom Mirosuna bolsters and beds to stretch and meditate on, the only place in Melbourne that you can do this! These beds are incredibly comfortable and are also wide enough to support you in either a lying down or stretched posture. We have multiple bolsters available per person, or a pregnancy pillow to make sure you feel as supported as possible, as everybody is unique in where they need the most support.
All of our classes feature breathing techniques which help you to focus on breathing in and out slowly and evenly. We prescribe safe breathing techniques for pregnancy women. Controlling your breath can help manage stress, anxiety, and quickness of breath which can upregulate tension in the body – healthy for you and your baby.
The classes are mixed and we have a wide range of clientele with a parallel and universal goal for growth, meaning that no matter what stage you are in through you pregnancy journey, you are welcome by the entire Mirosuna community. As the classes are inclusive, everyone can participate in meditation or the YIN postures. Posture modifications can also be requested and guided if at any stage you are feeling uncomfortable. Our instructors know what options will be available to you, as well as bring you any extra bolsters you need for comfort. If you ever feel cold during your meditation or stretching, we have blankets available to keep you warm and relaxed as well. You comfort is important and really matters to us.
We have specially trained pregnancy massage therapists, who can tailor your massage to what you need on the day depending on what you are looking for. Mirosuna has developed its own inhouse holistic massage style called OMM, which is the Original Meditative Massage.
We use a combination of hot stones, Camelia oil, meditation and effleurage massage stokes, all whilst being supported on a soft memory foam mattress and a pregnancy support pillow to give you the most relaxing and stress relieving massage possible.
This style keeps your body completely covered in a weighted duvet to ensure you stay warm and comfortable, with the duvet only being removed when different body parts are being massaged, ensuring maximum privacy and luxury.
The organic and pure Camellia oil we use is a nutrient-rich skin moisturiser and softener, also an ancient Japanese beauty elixr. The oil is an excellent all-body moisturiser, and works wonders to soften rough elbows, legs, knees, and heels, plus helps heal minor scars and stretch marks.
